Pp newbie looking for help

That valves corresponding to spa mode. When I turn spa mode on valves rotate to on and pool valve rotates to off. Just one pump for pool and spa. So when spa mode is on the pump just works for the spa, when pool mode on , pump works for spa and pool. I am no talking about spa mode, I am talking about pool mode. I set up speed to 1750 and pool mode, and worked really good, water had been circulating in pool and spa, perfect! But after 20 hours working well, pump lost pressure and now water is not circulating in the spa, just in pool. Jim explained to me that bc of the heater and a big loop in the circuit , pump probably would need to run no lower than 1500-1800, and I could open a little bit more the valve that controls how much water goes to the spa, to get water circulation in spa. So that’s what I did yesterday, and everything looks work correctly but pump started loose pressure more and more, , look like speed is lower, but I didn’t change anything. So the question is why it was working and suddenly it stopped .

A,

There is only one thing that causes a loss of flow over time.. Algae!!!

I bet if you clean your filter, everything will work again for a while, until the filter clogs again..

This is a chemical issue and not a mechanical or plumbing issue..

Thanks,

Jim R.

I will clean my filters now. But I wanted to share with you something. Our grass besides pump is soggy.. We stopped to see where it came from. I'll send you a photo, could this be the pool plumbing?

It’s broken, but idk if that pipe belong to the pool or to irrigation.
Also to say that the door skimmer is no working , always floating on the pool. Attached picture of water level in the skimmed.

A,

It is hard for me to know the size of the broken pipe, but it appears to be 1" or smaller.. If this is true, it has nothing to do with your pool pump..

It is most likely for a sprinkler system, or maybe your Auto-Fill system..

When does water spray out of the broken pipe?? When the sprinklers run? Or when the Auto-Fill is on, or ???

You posted a pic of your Auto-Fill system, which looks like toilet float and has nothing to do with a weir door.

You also posted a pic of a skimmer basket, where the water looks to be very low. Hard to tell in the pic... But... it is your job to make sure the water level in the pool never drops below the skimmer's mouth.. It should be kept right at the middle if the tile line. Normally, this is what the Auto-Fill does, but if the Auto-Fill is not working, you will need to manually fill the pool with a garden hose, until you get the Auto-Fill working.

Thanks,

Jim R.

Hello again!! I thought I got it, but looks like I didn’t. I cleaned the filters last Saturday, and the pump was working really good, to low speed, 1500, 24/7, my Swg working as well, water circulating in pool and in spa, until last night, no water circulating in the spa. It was working for 4 days in arrow 24/7 without any problem, and now without apparent reason the water in spa in again no circulating.
Do you have any idea?
Thank you 😊

You likely have algae.

Do another OCLT tonight. Link-->Overnight Chlorine Loss Test

Also, go into poolmath, gear in the upper right, scroll to the bottom and enable sharing with TFP. You nee to be logged into poolmath with your TFP login.

If you don't use the same login, for now take screen shots of your tests in poolmath and post them.

But my free choline is being 7 since I finished my slam and my Swg started working, so it was really good, just the last 2 days my de went down to 6 bc it was raining a lot, but I add med liquid chlorine to get my target, 7. So I don’t understand

But I did OCTL 2 nights in arrow after slamming and it was ok.
Ok, I will do it again if not raining, bc probably tonight it’s gonna rain. Anyways I just turned off the pump and turn on and now it’s working, water is circulating for the spa, i guess until it loss pressure again, right?
Bc, is there any other reason why pump loss pressure, or just algae? Nothing to do with the speed?

But I didn’t change the speed, still 1500.
The only thing that I did yesterday when the pressure was lower, it was turn the cleaner on. When the cleaner started working pressure went down. But, I have to say, that cleaner speed is higher 2000. So, I read that supposedly pump get the higher speed at that time, so it should be work at 2000 , both cleaner and pump, is that correct?

nothing scheduled, I just turn the cleaner on when I get home throug iAquaLink and I turn it off the same way

I don't understand aqualink enough to help.

Let's call @ajw22

Allen
TL:DR has a pool pump and booster pump. I suspect the booster source is connected to MD or Skimmer line. When he turns on the booster, he looses pressure in the spa (because of language barrier, I would confirm this). I don't know enough about aqualink to help and ask the right questions about how it is configured and how the OP is using it to confirm my suspicion that the valves are closing the spa when the booster is running. Original issue was the loss of pressure in the spa after 4 days. Ran cleaner at the same time he lost pressure. Turned everything off and on pressure came back. I don't think it is algae at this point, finished slam and has maintained FC.

You should not run the cleaner when in SPA mode. Only run the cleaner when in POOL.

The cleaner booster pump steals water from the pool return before it goes into the pool and uses it for the cleaner. In SPA mode the POOL returns are turned off. Because your pipes are buried I cannot tell exactly where the booster gets its water from.

Running the cleaner when in SPA mode can damage the booster pump or the diverter valve.

But basically your spa pressure was lower with the cleaner on because of the water the cleaner booster was stealing from the spa flow.

Allen, that was my assessment, that is what I was saying. But, it seems like he is not using the one touch functionality and instead adjusting individual controls without understanding the implications.

Seems like configuring the one touch capabilities would remove his error making...

@PoolGate knows his way around the iAqualink app and the One Touch. He says the One Touch is flaky and to never use it. I never had the Aqualink app and don't know the finer quirks of it.

In addition it looks like this is a very new iAqualink system with updated firmware since Speed 8 says In Floor. The new firmware has a bunch of new features we are seeing for the first time and the iAqualink app takes on a different look. So we are all learning together. @MSchutzer @HermanTX has encountered this recently.

Show me how you turn on the cleaner since I do not see it listed on this screen...
