Possible air lock or pump issue?

We have a 2007 Providence 2 hot tub. A few weeks ago we noticed a small and slow water leak coming from the main pump and the pipe fitting next to it. We replaced the o-ring that had failed and replaced the main pump since we had a spare that had been rebuilt on hand. We refilled the tub (through the filter area) and when we turned the tub back on pump 1 would not work. We could hear it click but no water coming through the jets. We also had error codes dry, oh and ohh. Found out we most likely had an air lock and went through with “burping” the jets and loosening the fittings until water came through. Finally got the pump to work and error codes to go away for a short period of time. The problem we are having now is when the tub turns on on its own to heat up a couple degrees it acts like it’s not getting enough flow and will shut off. Not sure if we still have an air lock or what might be going on. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Generally, air locks should not really be an issue with pump systems because they should generate enough flow and pressure to overcome any airlock. However, there could be priming issues with the pump and it may not be developing enough flow to purge all of the air out of the system.

Is all of the water purged out of the pump basket when it is running?

You might check the pump basket for any debris that is clogging the pump impeller.
