Last week my pool filter pump wouldn't work, just hummed. I also have a pump for the pool sweep, both Sta-Rite. The pool sweep pump didnt do anything, no humming, nothing, I believe I replaced it about 2 years ago. The part # for the filter pump is MPRA6E-147L, I have a waterfall feature and a bubbler at the other end of the pool. I don't know that much about this stuff so excuse me if I sound ignorant. The waterfall/bubbler has a separate motor, so 3 motors total in my inground pool setup. I ordered a replacement Puri Tech Sta-Rite Dyna-Glas 1HP MPRA6E147L Replacement Motor Kit AO Smith USQ1102 w/GO-KIT-47 last week and it arrived today. Not knowing what I'm doing, I thought it was as easy as unbolting the old and installing the new, of course, it has a kit, so its a little more involved than that. My problem is, on the pump, after inspecting it, is a sticker that states: This motor type is NOT ALLOWED for sale or installation on residential pool filter pump applications in the State of California.......I'm in California! I am pretty comfortable mechanically, as long as its pretty straight forward. I have emailed the seller(Amazon)about this waiting for a response. Since it looks like I may have to return it, are there any recommendations for a replacement/upgrade? I figured the equipment is about 10 years old and maybe I should start upgrading when things need to be replaced. Thanks for the help in advance. Also, my pool is quickly turning green, so I need to get this figured out ASAP. Thanks!
