POOL PUMP HELP

Last week my pool filter pump wouldn't work, just hummed. I also have a pump for the pool sweep, both Sta-Rite. The pool sweep pump didnt do anything, no humming, nothing, I believe I replaced it about 2 years ago. The part # for the filter pump is MPRA6E-147L, I have a waterfall feature and a bubbler at the other end of the pool. I don't know that much about this stuff so excuse me if I sound ignorant. The waterfall/bubbler has a separate motor, so 3 motors total in my inground pool setup. I ordered a replacement Puri Tech Sta-Rite Dyna-Glas 1HP MPRA6E147L Replacement Motor Kit AO Smith USQ1102 w/GO-KIT-47 last week and it arrived today. Not knowing what I'm doing, I thought it was as easy as unbolting the old and installing the new, of course, it has a kit, so its a little more involved than that. My problem is, on the pump, after inspecting it, is a sticker that states: This motor type is NOT ALLOWED for sale or installation on residential pool filter pump applications in the State of California.......I'm in California! I am pretty comfortable mechanically, as long as its pretty straight forward. I have emailed the seller(Amazon)about this waiting for a response. Since it looks like I may have to return it, are there any recommendations for a replacement/upgrade? I figured the equipment is about 10 years old and maybe I should start upgrading when things need to be replaced. Thanks for the help in advance. Also, my pool is quickly turning green, so I need to get this figured out ASAP. Thanks!

You may want to email or call Inyo and see what they suggest. I bought a VS pump last year and the seem like honest folks and have fair pricing.
They also sell parts and motors and can help with the parts you need to get you up and going

Yeah, I have used inyo before, I thought that's where I bought my replacement booster pump but I can't find that record. So apparently, the Amazon seller shouldn't have sold me the pump and he should have stated that on Amazon's site where he is selling it?
Thanks for the reply!

Well the good thing about Amazon is they will make they pay shipping and let you return it..If they don't they will issue you a refund..

So, I returned the pump to Amazon since I didn't hear back from them and ordered another with the help of Inyo pools. I just received a response from the Amazon seller stating if I install it myself that law doesn't apply to me? What sense does that make, especially the reason for the new law. Does anybody know if this is true or not or is the seller figuring I can do it without being caught?
