Pool math question

A storm came up so there’s pine needles everywhere. It’s black so with no sun it looks dark but when the sun was out it was perfect looking.

Good luck with the test. Test 30 minutes after last addition with pump running and after sunset. Test before sunrise!

Ok FC showed a 1.5ppm drop overnight. My pump ran all night, so I think that may be why more than 1ppm drop.
Vacuum and backwash will be don’t first.

Good morning. I haven't been following your thread from the beginning, but for you to do an OCLT tells me at some point you were looking to see if you might have an algae issue? Leaving the pump on 24/7 is not the reason for the excessive FC drop. That's a sign of algae. You can wait for @PoolStored to hop back online to discuss further since he's been coaching you, but in the meantime I would start reading the SLAM Process page to understand what might be ahead of you. Good luck!

@Texas Splash You are funny, we are all coaches, TFP is a team sport!

Texas Splash is, of course, right. You still have algae. You can have it even if you can't see it. Keep your SLAM on. Keep slamming, every 1-2 hours is best. Scrub everything. Do you have main drains? Turn the pump off, remove the covers and scrub in there. Lights? If they have niches and/or removable, remove the lights, scrub them and the niches (I don't think so in a fiberglass pool. Scrub in your bubblers on your shelf. Weir doors? Check them and the foam in them. Might be there. @Texas Splash where else in a FG pool?

I my have been off one drop to many last night. It was so many. I’ll scrub the eyeballs but the lights aren’t removable.
The filter is a sand type with glass media. There’s not really an odor like there was.

I’ve got a concern. Before I started with this SLAM, last week I had mustard algae and the pool store told me me to use a bottle of yellow treat. Did I make a huge mistake that will affect my water?

If it was United Chemical Yellow Treat -- that is Sodium Bromide. NOT GOOD. How much did you add?
