Pool filter has to be cleaned weekly during the summer. Pool is not enclosed with fence. Trees n shrubbery are nearby. What can I do to remedy this issue. What is causing this to happen ? Ty for your answers.

Danny,

Tell us why you have to clean the filter that often. It should not be because of the nearby plants.

I "assume" the filter pressure goes way up and your water flow goes way down. Is that the case?

If so, most likely you have an algae bloom, even if the water is not green yet.

Tell us more... and show us some pics of your pool and equipment pad.

Thanks,

Jim R.

Welcome to TFP! We need more info to assist. For example:
- What are your pool details? Update your signature with all of your pool & equipment info. See mine as an example.
- Water test results. We need to see those. Preferably from a TF-100 or Taylor K-2006C for reliability.

Go on ebay or amazon and order a box of cheap hair nets.
Everytime I empty my 2 skimmer baskets, I put a new hair net down in it. It works for me really well because I have these on the baskets and they hold the hair nets down
if the pump shuts off. The skim doctor units create a vortex and are adjustable. The hair nets trap all the very small leaves, crepe myrtle blossoms, etc. that normally go thru
skimmer/pump baskets and end up right in your filter. I have a big filter and I clean it every fall when it cools off.

Looking at the skim dr photo, I didn't do the blue frame around basket with the screws going thru basket....that makes it too hard to pop off and pull out net. I just fitted the gray
bottom to fit snugly in my baskets, so it pop it off and replace net and it takes a minute to put a clean hair net in.

You have algae.
You need to follow the SLAM Process. To do that, you need a proper test kit. I suggest the TF-100 / TFPRO or Taylor K2006C. A proper test kit is needed to get the accurate water chemistry results needed to follow the TFP protocols.

While you are waiting on your test kit, add 5 ppm FC worth of liquid chlorine / plain bleach to your pool each evening with the pump running. This will replenish the FC lost each day to the sun and also inhibit any algae in the water from growing further.
