Hello everyone, new here. Been learning a lot and finally Getting ready to pull the trigger. I have a meeting today with my pool builder to go over final design and finish choices. Here’s an image of the engineer design. Please give me any feedback of what you recommend as far as jets, skimmer, etc. 15x33 salt pool with 15x7 shelf, raised spa and depths of 3.5’ to 5.5’ I appreciate any and all feedback thank you

I never like to see the skimmers on the same wall of the pool. In my mind they need to be 90 degrees to each other.

I like to see 4 returns with one on each wall of the pool. I believe that the area by the steps will have less circulation.

I like that you have two skimmers, just make sure the each one is individually plumbed back to the equipment with their own Jandy valve control.

Make sure that any salt system is rated for at least 2 x the volume of the pool. So, a 20K pool requires a 40K cell.

I assume you will be getting a VS pump, if not, I would request one as they are the best pump to have when going saltwater.

3.5' is too shallow... Go with 4' minimum.

And since you live in Florida, the land of the "dinky" filters, I'd ask for a real filter instead of what they normally install.

Do I read correctly that the spa will have a 132” spillway?

I think you will need more than 3 pool lights if all represented. There will be a shaded blind spot between the shelf and the spa.

Make sure all depths are WATER depth-water to the middle of the waterline tile and skimmer opening. Some do depth as from the bottom of the pool to the coping. If that is used you lose water depth.

Now share with us your equipment models. Want to make sure it is the correct size and such for your pool.

Thanks for your reply, what do you consider a “real filter”? Like a sand filter? I believe right now what’s included is a cartridge filter. I want to add one more return jet near the steps of the sunshelf. And maybe move the second skimmer to the area between left pool bench and the sunshelf. That way it covers each wall. My runs east to west and the wind runs the same direction 90% of the time here.

Ok when I go in today I’ll ask about the water depth. As of now they don’t really tell me much about the equipment. Just Jandy VS pump, jandy 200 sf cartridge filter, rainbow in line chlorinator, jandy RS4 pool controller, jandy salt generator, and heater I don’t have the model name

what do you consider a “real filter”?

I was just poking fun at Florida pool builders..

I love cartridge filters, I just think they need to be much bigger than what I see most Florida pools having.

As an example.. They are going to provide you with a 200 Sq. Ft. filter. I would recommend a 420 or 520 filter. This has nothing to do with the size of the pool, but rather how long you can go between cleanings.

This assumes that you do not have a screen-room over the pool.
