Pool #2. South Texas. Waterfront property.

awesome build... do you have some close up pics of your sunken bar and pergola?
What specifically do you mean?

part with stainless surround is where the fridge will go.
I’m about to wipe down all the stainless and ceramic coat it.

I’m applying an automotive grade ceramic coating to the stainless surfaces. It’s a gamble as it may not work as intended. crossing my fingers

That is fantastic! What a spectacular view!

I love the bar. Is there going to be any kind of railing around the upper area, or is it a "walk around the bar at your own risk" kinda deal?

Currently, I have a rule. “No stupid people”. 😂
once I fall in, I’ll add railing. I will be the first...guaranteed.

Still waiting on 1/2 the lights. It’s already phenomenal at night.
So glad the fill water here is better than West Texas. Keeping an eye on the pH and it’s nowhere near as frustrating.

The gate guy has gone missing in action, so next weekend I’ll be building gates. Sadly I don’t have lots of free time. So it may be a slow process. But I can’t just leave this thing open to the public.

now I need to power wash the houseCE64C9F5-D247-464A-B430-42F86032B728.jpegD8E2AF27-AF2C-4D0F-976C-D8F30FC063C3.jpeg

Looking great!!

Sad about the gate guy.............really dude? you can't come and build it?? Hoping he did not get paid yet to top it off!!
Thank you!

Luckily I’m not that naive. He’s an extremely busy contractor and this is probably his smallest job, so I kinda get it...but I’m still annoyed. I’m procuring a few tools and have drawn the plans for the gate. Next weekend should be eventful unless something else gets in the way. I built a basic gate once...15yrs ago. This one isn’t planned to be nearly as basic. However if it turns out, it will make me very proud.

working on seasoning the new grill. I’m not a gas grill guy. But I’ve got a sheet of steel so I can build a griddle top for it...as absurd as that may be.

Ben,
Don't forget to have them waterproof both sides of the weir wall. They may try to tell you its not necessary but it is.

Use the link above and it will explain it. There was some questioning when I asked STP to do it but they agreed in the end. Also make sure that they provide an overfill (because of rain) drain line for the catch basin and I would suggest a autofill feature in the catch basin also. Your overfill drain line could go directly to the Bay.
Martin,

I'm catching up on this thread that's of great interest to me since I'm starting the design of a new house and pool with an infinity edge that overlooks a lake on a golf course behind the lot and down hill from the pool. Can you please explain a little of the basics from the article to me? I thought the plaster seals the pool wall so didn't realize the sealer would be needed. Why is this different for an infinity edge? If I seal are there any special requirements to make sure the plaster will fully adhere?

Thanks in advance.

Chris

Promise to DIY, and guess what happens.

The issue I see here is the latch is on the outside of the gate. I’ll add a secondary latch so I can control access from inside. I really really want a smart latch (Apple HomeKit). But so far I haven’t found anything of the sort. As a rule I don’t enter the house from this entry.
