My old Polaris 280 is making funny noises and needs new tires and and other maintenance items. And after 15 or 18 years the plastic doesn't look that great, either. Since I'm already using a pressure side device I'm wondering about getting a Quatro to replace the 280.

Quattro search results on this site are mostly from around 2019. I'd like to hear from people with current Quattro experience. Is it working well for you? Has Polaris addressed the issue (?) of breakage where the hose attaches to the device? Are there other pressure side devices I might want to look at instead?

Thanks in advance for any comments.

I thought about that, too. The main down side in many years of use has been the "tail" getting stuck between cover and wall near the hot tub overflow and flooding the top of the cover until the backoff valve kicks in. And having to replace backoff valves every so often. Still, getting another 280 is not something I've ruled out.

Would still like to hear comments about the Quattro.

@marchyman I have a Quattro and like it better than the 3-wheeled Polaris cleaners. In my pool, it cleans better than the 3-wheelers. A big benefit is that it has rubber scrubbers on the front and bottom.

Initially, I had trouble setting the pressure. It requires less pressure than the 3-wheelers and will try to climb out of the pool unless you find the right pressure. I had to insert the red restrictor disk and open the pressure release a bit to get the pressure fine tuned.

There should be no issue of breakage where the hose attaches to the body, unless you lift the device out of the pool by the hose. That'll break it for sure, There is a handle you must use to lift it out of the pool, so it's all good.

Thanks for your reply. It is the scrubbers that that initially got my attention. That and no need for a backoff device.
Everyone loves all the various "premium" Polaris models until they have to be repaired. All Polaris parts are expensive, but for those cleaners its even worse. Your 280 lasted, another will as well.
For the tail, get a Swasher (Amazon) sweep tail. They don't get stuck (though you can defeat anything), and don't spray the windows.

I'm still thinking about it. Yeah, Polaris parts are expensive. I've tried a few after market parts in the past and found they did not last at all. So I pay for the real thing.
