Polaris 280 problem

My Polaris 280 is going in circles. With the booster/cleaner pump off, the filter pump on and the hose still in the wall, I pulled the cleaner out to take a look at it. Normally when I do this there is a small spray of water coming out the top of the polaris where the bag attaches but there was nothing. I have never seen this before.

I was going to take the cleaner in to the pool store but now I'm wondering if they should come take a look at the rest of the equipment with the water situation. Could it be my pump is going out?

Check the filter screen in the feed hose as shown on page 9. Check the wheel RPM as shown on page 7. Troubleshooting begins on page 11.

All the parts are available including rebuild kits if you are handy.
