Planning to start testing next week

I bought a Taylor 2006 at the recommendations of this forum. We bought our house in November and the prior owner had the cover on at the time, then we had a lot landscaping done including cutting down a lot of trees so I haven't even seen the pool with the cover off yet.
I've seen the videos Taylor put out in how to use their kit and am comfortable I think (if not you'll hear from me) in doing it myself. The only thing I can't find is, what order do I test everything and what order do I work on correcting whatever the test results show? It's a SW pool.

If you are running the full battery of tests, it doesn't really matter which order you take them. It might matter however in what order you treat the water. For example, if you find the CYA or CH are extremely too high and need to be lowered, then you'll exchange some water first before treating the other items as to not waste chemicals. But if no water needs to be changed, you'll most likely treat the water for pH (high) and/or FC (low) first. But feel free to post a full set of results when you get ready and we'll be happy to assist.

Me? I would test the CYA first. Here is a trick for testing it:
-do NOT look for the googly eye. If you look for it you will see it. GLANCE in then away. You can redo the test over and over to help you get a handle on it. Pour the mixed solution into the tube to the 100 line. GLANCE in then look away. If you can see the googlie eye then pour more mixed solution in to the 80 line. Keep doing that until you cannot see the googly eye when you GLANCE in. Call it when you cannot see the googly eye at a glance at a line. We don't mess with the 75 or such. Go to the higher number (80) and use that as your base line.

If your CYA is less than 90 then move to CH then PH, TA. I am going to guess you don't have any FC but could be wrong.

Thanks! Definitely not pic worth yet. Lots of wood chips from grinding the stumps. Next up we need a fence, lots of cement, and then a hot tub!

Pump and filter still on. Pump was on for ~6-7h every night. Filter was cleaned right before the cover went on but probably needs to be cleaned again. No chemicals whatsoever were on. My hope is to get the cover off and start balancing whatever I need to balance before the temps get over 60-70 so I hopefully don't have any algae. Oh and I also still need to buy a robot cleaner...

Reading back through, of course thats the right answer! duh! I'm i'm testing everything, it shouldn't matter. Appreciate the advice for CYA CH, pH, FC as a good order to start. I'll post my results though to make sure!
