My TF-100 should arrive this week, .....First timer

I plan to fill the pool to mid skimmer and test at room temp this weekend.

Pool man comes 4/25 and I plan to have him open only and I'll do my own chems. I also plan to pay the $150 for their pool school so I can have them show me all the features of my system and I get to ask all the questions I want.

Question What chemicals do I need to have on hand 4/25 CL (How much should I buy), stabilizer (what kind, how does it come) and I'll need DE for my filter again what kind and how big a bag, any other items?? Also where should I buy these items?

Thanks guys/gals

I'd buy a couple gallons of liquid chlorine (bleach) and a gallon of muriatic acid. Walmart, Home Depot, Lowes all carry what you need. Some local pool stores sell liquid chlorine in refillable 1 or 2.5 gallon containers.

Will this be a fresh fill or will you just be topping it off from last year. I ask because if the auto feeder was using 3" trichlor pucks there would most likely be CYA/stabilizer in the water.

Was bromine ever used in the pool?

I will be topping off the pool from last year, Previous owner was using the pucks in the auto CL, and putting in liquid CL, but not testing, No idea on bromine.

Once you are done topping off the pool bring a sample in and let it warm up to 70° or so and run the CYA test. Remember that you will need to be outside with your back to the sun to get the most accurate results. Report back your findings and we can guide you from there.

I would love to save the $150, but I wanted to learn the equipment and be able to ask questions. The tech who opens will only open and has limited time. Also they don't schedule a time for opening he just comes and does it. I can schedule the pool school. I figured if I save the $85 for their chems I can spend it on the pool school. I just don't want to break anything by not knowing how to use it like the heater, motor etc,

Will do on the testing I'm eager to get off on the right foot.
