Hi guys,

I'm moving my pool pump/filter to a new location. I'm just curious as to what the pipework is for in the photo, with the blue arrow. Any ideas? Is it required?

Thanks 😀20241006_213455.jpg

It is always difficult to guess what an unlabeled pipe is for.

Show us your pool.

How many holes do you have in the pool? Do they equal the number of pipes?

AS,

Impossible for us to know..

If your pool is working well now, then you must not need it.

Since it is on the pressure side, it could be to an old water feature, or maybe a backwash drain line, or abandoned (leaking) return line, or ???

You could always dig down a little and see if it is something obvious.

Thanks,

Jim R.

I have another photo of the pipe underground, I think it just runs to the above ground bit of pipe circled red. I have no idea what for but I will move it with all the other pipes, as I just know if I ignore it something will go wrong in the future!

AS,

Your multiport valve on your filter has three connections..

1. The input from the pump.
2. The output from the filter going back to the pool.
3. The waste output when in the backwash mode going into a drain or to the street.

I assume the bottom pipe is the waste port as I can see the sight glass inspection cap..

Thanks,

Jim R.

The capped pipe at the back of the pool circled in red on post #4 is likely a ground water inspection or pumping point. It’s common for fibreglass pools to have a ground water pipe.

The lower pipe crossing under the main bundle in post #7 is the waste. It will go to the sewer or storm water depending on the local council requirements. The power supply looks like it goes from the orange conduit into pressure pipe which is very dodgy.

I’m just guessing at the capped pipe from post #1. Could be for a blower. Could be for pumping out ground water. Could be for an auto level. In floor cleaning. Water feature. Suction or pressure cleaner. Deep inlet for a heating system. We don’t do main drains in AU, what looks like a main drain will be a hydrostatic valve for ground water.
