Installed a new evo vgreen variable speed motor with a new seal plate (that came with shaft seal pre-installed). The pump is a whisperflo .75 (WFE-3).

It's leaking bad from the connection between motor and seal plate. Photo attached - water is pouring out where the arrow points.

Replace shaft seal?

Yes, replace the shaft seal. Did you fill the pump with water before you started the pump? What is the exact model number of the motor?

I always recommend that you upgrade the shaft seal to the SCS series. That would be PS-1905 on your pump. Just not worth the time and hassle...better seals last longer.

Thanks for the info. Yes, I filled the pump before testing, and I'll need to get the model number later if needed. I'll try a new shaft seal - the SCS is pricey but I'll look into it.

I had 2 failures with the Basic Service shaft seal. The SCS has been going strong 3+ years. I'll never replace without the SCS. YMMV.
