Hi guys. My pH is going up rather quickly. Last week it went from 7.5 to 8.2 in about a day and a half. The highest temperature it got here was 89°.

Last night I added borates to the pool and the pump has been on the whole time. This morning the pH was at 7.2 and just now it's already up to 7.5!!!

There is one jet that barely breaks the surface of the water. I'm thinking it's contributing to the rapid rise in pH. I'm going to point it down a bit to see if that helps.

Any other thoughts on what could cause this?

FC 9.5 (I know....I don't know why pool calculator calculated this much chlorine!!)
CC .5
CYA 60
pH 7.5
TA 70

Shoot for a TA of 80, and keep your PH at 7.8, and only dose with MA when it goes above 8. What’s you CH number?

@CactusGirl TA of 70 is better then the 80 so don't think you need to raise TA. The lower TA the better. TA can be as low as 60 and be ok.

Manage the pH. Let the TA find it's own happy level as long as 60 or above.

Agreed. But (and I don’t know if the pebble finish has anything to do with it) my TA likes to slowly wander upwards. I just knocked mine back down from 90 yesterday morning, to 80 this morning. My PH stays much more stable there, VS 90. ?‍♂️
