Having issue getting ultra temp to control with Pentair home app. I have Com wire connected to Ultra temp and to intellienter with the ultra temp set to Rs485 mode. Any help appreciated.

It’s set up at Ultra temp. I see the readings in the intellicenter and the Pentair home app, the ultra temp will not respond to the temp adjustments
See the photos of connections to my Ultratemp and my Intellicenter, the connections are circles in red. Both intellicenter and ultra temp are set to channel 2 . Will work manually when put in rs485 mode I get the communication error.

Do you get the heart beat * in the upper right?

You have the Ultratemp connected to J8 the IS4 Remote block.

It needs to be connected to J4 or J5.

You can put two wires under one screw and add it to either RS-485 COM PORT.

No, not when connected to J8 on Intellicenter (I get the “Serial COMM LOST” message on ULTRATEMP), when I connect to the JP3 port circled in the below photo, I do get the heart beat, but it doesn’t seem to respond as I had the cool temp set to 89 and the pool was at 86 and unit was running?

I don't see any wires connected to the circled connector.

Show me actual pictures of the UltarTemp control panel when it is doing what you describe.

Ok I will try, that, manual referenced ability to use J8.

You were reading the page about connecting to an EasyTouch/IntelliTouch which uses J7/J8. IntelliCenter is a different board with different numbering.

I connected to the J5. Error gone. But unit will not stop running.

Do you have a solar temperature sensor installed?

When you connect the UltraTemp to Pentair automation using the RS-485 data connection you need to add a solar temperature sensor in addition to the air and water temperature sensors. The solar temperature sensor can be left loose in load center. The automation system does not use the temperature reading but just looks for resistance.

A 10K resistor will work, and is less expensive, or a temperature sensor.

You can steal the air temp sensor and connect it to the solar to test it immediately until you get a resistor.

Both intellicenter and ultra temp are set to channel 2 .

Why did you set it for 2 and not leave it as 1?

Is the UltraTemp in RS-485 mode?

You do NOT have the heartbeat in this pic of the panel which indicates the systems are not communicating...

It was not working on 1 so a changed to 2 to see if I could get working

I reset the controller. Now the ultra temp will turn on when I drop the temp below current temp. If I turn it above it, how long should it take to turn back off?

Okay, it sounds like it is working.

There is a minimum cycle time on a heat pump. The compressor does not like quick on/off cycles.

Be patient and let it do its thing automatically and see if it is operating properly over time.

Seems as the compressor does shut off, but the fan continues to run(overnight) never stops.
