Pentair Intelliflo VSF compatible with EasyTouch?

Hello, I'm hoping you can tell me if my Intelliflo VSF S-011056 is compatible with my EasyTouch. Not sure the model name of the EasyTouch, But I've attached a couple pictures. I suspect the EasyTouch is too old. If so, is my best bet to just schedule the pump through the pump scheduling features?

The EasyTouch was made to control IntelliFlo pumps. The VSF should work just fine.

You do want to ensure that the F/W in the pump is not version 3.03 or 3.04, as that F/W has known communication bugs. Pentair will re-flash the pump under warranty if that is the case.

What version F/W does your EasyTouch have?

Even though it's a very old easy touch? From around 2005. I just got the Intelliflo VSF S-011056. I don't remember the model of my old pump but it was an old intelliFlow VS. I'm trying to find the firmware of the easy touch.

Version 1 are EasyTouch boards shipped prior to 5/5/2008. They cannot be programmed with version 2.010 or higher.

Our Pentair Automation Systems - Further Reading does not address if current day VS pumps can be controlled by the ET Version 1. Try it. Let us know what happens.

Seems that version 1 cards could only have 1 pump and only 4 speeds, but I could be way off course...

Hmm, the latest firmware you can put on the old Easy Touch 1 boards is 1.060, which came out in 2007 - waaay before the vsf pump. From the firmware release notes, it looks like Intelliflo VSF support was added in Feb 2011, and then Intelliflo 2 VSF support in Dec 2016. @mknauss, I'm thinking we can safely update that further reading section?

I think your cheapest option is to get a newer Easytouch board. There's a whole bunch of online retailers that sell replacements (although I don't know what pricing and availability is like now), and I find ebay to be a good source for new or used - just be sure it's got updated firmware. If I've got one I'll shoot you a PM

I thought even the old boards allowed the use of a VS pump.. I understand they will not control a VF pump, but VS IntelliFlo pump have been around a long time.

Tom,

I think you just tell the EasyTouch that you have a VS, it will still control the VSF pump, it just won't be able to do any "Flow" functions.

Jim, that's gold - I didn't realize that the VSF would just operate like a VS!

My new pump is a VSF. So are you confirming my VSF pump will not work with my EasyTouch?

It will work. In VS mode (RPM), not VF mode (gpm).

You just set your pump type in the EasyTouch to VS, as there will be no VSF, and your EasyTouch should control your new pump.
