Hello All,

Still new to Pentair IntelliCenter automation and while I think it does what it needs to do there are few things I am still playing and testing around with.

One item that I find strange is the lack of activity log by user or system. I have tenants and they have a separate user id but I cannot see their activity. Sometimes system does not do what is scheduled and it would be a great time to look at an activity or action log but it’s missing.

There is a connection log but that seems really basic.

I tried using and setting notifications for valve activity, but I have not received a single one. I had speed notifications set up but even running pump at speed limit did not trigger any notifications. I only received one notification emailed it informed me that the communication to the pump was lost. So somehow the notification system seems to work but not for all the events.

Please advise if anyone found a better way to monitor actions that are taking by guests or system.

The IntelliCenter is weak on reporting and notifications. Pentair has lots of room for improvements.

Maybe some still have success with this. I'm not sure. Reporting and notifications used to work for me back in 2019 or so. But if I recall... After upgrading the firmware somewhere around that time, it quit working for me and never has since.

To be honest, it's frustrating on many different levels for this automation system to NOT perform correctly as it was originally intended or to industry standards.

I have reported this particular discrepancy numerous times to folks that I have come to be acquainted with at Pentair. This, in addition to a whole multitude of other glitches, errors, inconsistencies, failures, bugs, oversights, setbacks, etc. etc. etc.

Have some of these problems with IntelliCenter been fixed over the last 6 years? Yup, a few. But not very many. And every time there seems to be a "fix" implemented, something else seems to get "broke". 2 steps forward and 1 step back it seems.

I've had nothing but "radio silence" from Pentair over the last 4 or 5 months. Either their hunkered down in planning & execution cells with regards to releasing a brand new and totally revolutionary firmware upgrade that will fix all the bugs at the outdoor control panel, web-client and mobile device apps... OR... There is another major shakeup in personnel and corporate structure and still nothing will get accomplished. Old problems, new people and ideas and NO progress.... I tend to think it's the latter!

Sorry to sound a bit negative regarding your new IntelliCenter. I understand your excitement about squeezing out all of it's supposed capabilities. And I can also relate to your frustration when it becomes clear that those capabilities cannot be realized.

Those of us who have been using IntelliCenter over the last few years or so (6 years for me), have just come to accept it. As they say... "it is what it is" and it seems nothing can be done to improve on it.

Take care and welcome to TFP. ;)

Thank you for a bit of sobering truth. It’s hard to accept it. Seems like Pentair is happy with great product hardware and mediocre software. They sell the potential that they fail to materialize.
