Pentair IntelliBrite 5G Defect

Well, they're definitely not tvs diodes... I get the same readings

Mine are marked 1H 6A M. Best I can find is a datasheet for a Rectron 1H6, but it's a through hole part.

they're schottky diodes... the datasheet for the driver suggests how to choose them...

Table 3. Schottky Diodes
PART NUMBER VR (V) IF (A) PACKAGE
ZETEX
ZLLS350 40 0.38 SOD523
ZLLS400 40 0.52 SOD323

sorry, those ARE the diodes the datasheet suggests... i.e. a Zeltek ZLLS400.

The only problem is that the ZLLS400 comes in a SOD323 case (which is bigger than SOD523) having a body of 1.7 x 1.3 mm - but that's much smaller than what's on the board now (mine measure ~4 x 2.5mm). Typically the larger the diode, the more current or reverse voltage it can handle, so it's back to searching...

Thanks ogdento. A friend was able to get his hands on these diodes and help me soilder them on. I tested it out and successfully released the magic smoke from the LED driver. :(

At this rate, I'm not sure I'm planning anymore trial and error to determine which diodes are the correct ones. Thankfully, this board I was trying to recover would have just been a backup. 20240702_112921.jpg20240625_083755.jpg

agh that's a bummer! so the ones you used are in the tape on the right? (they look the largest)

Has anyone else tried AZ_MB’s mod with the copper plate on page 4?

I’m preparing to do it. After years of a non functional Intellibrite (I got about a year out of it), I ordered a new board. I have already cut the copper and ordered the thermal paste.

Just curious it anyone else has done it… and if we have learned any other tips?

The new board is another week or two from delivery. If my light fires up, confirming the problem was the board, I’ll be happy to send the old board back to anyone working with these.
