Pentair IC40 working but salt levels are low

My salt level is below the recommended Pentair levels, but the green light is on and it is generating chlorine. Should I leave it be, or bring my salt level up to the recommended level of 3400. It is currently at 2400. I have checked it with a digital reader I have and also taken a sample of my water to Leslie's to verify it was accurate.

The SWCG will work until you get to Very Low Salt. If you are sure your real salt level is 2400 ppm, then add enough to get to 3200 ppm. You can use PoolMath (link at top of page) to determine how much to add.

Good Luck!

ml,

Welcome to TFP... A Great resource for all your salty questions... :drown:

The IC40 will light the red salt light when the cell "thinks" the salt is below 2800, but will still work. When the cell thinks the salt is below 2600 it will quit working.

If the salt light is not red, then the cell thinks the salt level is above 2800...

The tolerance for the cell's internal salt test is +/- 500 ppm.

Thanks,

Jim R.
