Pentair Ic 30 not starting with automation

Recently had my IC 30 connected with my new pool. All was working normally until PB hooked up automation using the Pentair home app. I have a 3hp vsp, and using intelliconnect automation. My FC kept dropping to close to zero, forcing me to use LC. When I checked the IC30, no lights were on, I had to disable the IC in the app and enable it again for it to start. If I run the pump manually for cleaning or change the speed it shuts off and again I have to disable and re-enable it in the app. Now it is stuck in boost mode in the app, even though it is not running. The app says it's running, but when I physically inspect it is not on. I never know when it is on as what the app is showing is incorrect.

1. How do I pair a new device to the intelliconnect? I see I can delete it from the app but do not see options to add. At this point want to start over delete current IC profile, re-add and resync.
2. Confirmed it has power as it is connected to relay one on the intelliconnect.
3. All other connected devices are responsive and work as expected with the automation, Pump, Heater and lights. The pump will not go past 85 deg in automation mode but will when I disable remote at the unit. Still need to figure that out

Sima,

I assume you have the iChlor 30 and the IntelliConnect. Unlike all the other Pentair automation systems, the iChlor does not use a relay when connected to the IntelliConnect and IntelliFlo. The iChlor talks to the pump over the RS-485 bus and when the pump is not running it sets its output to zero. Total different than any other automation system.

Let's see if we can get one of our IntelliConnect users to chime in.

Thanks,

Jim R.

Correct ic30 with intelliconnect. I have the pump and IC 30 schedules the same. When I look and the intelliconnect control center. I see a relay 2 labeled pump/iclor is this is not on iclor will not run. Today pump started at 8am but swg did not start as scheduled. Manually started in app by disabling and enabling schedule. Hours later checked and it’s off even though schedule is set until 8pm. Also not clear why when swg runs it overrides the pump schedule by showing pump running in override. I am checking chlorine multiple times a day as this is unreliable so far.

Sim,

Is the 240 VAC power to your IntelliFlo controlled by relay # 1 or is it just acting like the Pump/Filter relay?

I don't know much about the IntelliConnect, but like everyone else, I'm here to learn.

The IntelliFlo should get constant AC power, it should not be wired through any relay.

The IntelliConnect is much different than the EasyTouch that I have. With an EasyTouch you can't "schedule" the SWCG. The SWCG will come on any time you are in the Pool mode or Spa mode and the pump is running.

Thanks,

Jim R.

@Jimrahbe got the issue sorted out, thanks for the guidance.

For others that may be in the same boat, there were 2 issues both resolved onsite by a Pentair tech.

1. My unit did not have the latest firmware, and the only way to update was to physically connect to the board from his laptop. He stated some units were shipped where they were not updated to the latest min firmware and this was one. Once it is updated he stated it should now receive future updates automatically.

2. As Jim noted the Intelliflo pump should get constant power and not be wired to the intelliconnect relay and that was wired correctly, however, what was not wired correctly was the Ichlor was wired to the Intelliconnect on the load side vs the line side The tech stated since the Ichlor has its own power center, it needs to detect that the pump is on and being downstream from the pump being on the line side allows it to detect voltage to confirm the pump is on.

3. On the Pentair app he advises disabling scheduling, of the ichlor. Since it will only run if it detects the pump is on, no need to have a separate schedule, should be making chorine if the pump is running.

I have checked the last few days and no issues, all lights are on for the Ichlor and my chlorine is back up to where it needs to be.
