I'm getting ready to solder on a new Pentair Easy Touch LCD Screen, can I reconnect and test it prior to soldering or does it need to be soldered first? I've never done this before.

Mine lit up when I tested it, but no characters displayed until it was soldered. Once soldered it worked perfectly. I used Blue 16x4 Edge-Lit Character LCD from Crystalfontz
