PebbleTec Calcium Deposit

I’m draining my pebbletec pool completely and have black onyx finish. I think it would lighten up after drying but the amount of white that’s showing is making me worry that if they are calcium deposits. Any ideas??

Could be calcium. Rub with lemon, white cleaning vinegar, and as a last resort acid. If it fizzes it’s calcium. I’d start with the lemon or vinegar as it will be the least aggressive on the finish itself.

I don't know if I would risk applying muriatic acid directly to the dry PebbleTec surface. I think it will bleach out the dark finish.

My PH is at 7.0 and TA at 270. Pool math app says to add 20lbs borax to increase my PH from 7 to 7.4 but for TA it says lower your PH to 7.0-7.2 then aerate to increase PH. So, should I add borax or just aerate? Thanks!

No need to add borax to raise your pH of 7.0 - your highTA will cause the pH to rise.

If you want, you can aerate to raise pH a bit quicker.
Let pH rise it 7.8, then lower to 7.2 to help lower your TA - rinse, repeat.

Muriatic acid lowers pH and TA. pH will rise on its own, aeration speeds the pH rise.

You really have two choices...

Ignore TA and just manage your pH. When pH gets to 8.0, reduce it to 7.2 with muriatic acid. With a high TA, your pH will rise on its own. When pH gets back to 8, reduce it to 7.2 again. You don't HAVE to aerate, but it will help with pH rise.

Highly unlikely unless the CYA is way over 100 ppm.

Pool math app says

PoolMath is just a calculator, nothing more. If given a target, PoolMath will calculate how to achieve it. It's a useful tool but needs to be used properly. Don't blindly follow its output.

So, should I add borax or just aerate?

Neither. pH will rise quickly with low pH and high TA.

Taylor K2006. My fill water PH is 7.6 and CH is 100. Pebbletec finish. 5 year old pool just drained it completely and filled it back up last week.
