Pad under steps

Pad is 36x30.

Does anyone cut theirs so it only is under the feet/legs of the stairs?

I can picture stuff getting trapped under it and being a good spot for algae to grow.

I put down a rubber mat then a foot bath on top of it.

I have that pad and I cut it to be just under the steps, because otherwise my 'robotic' vacuum gets stuck on it. I don't worry about algae growth much because I keep my chlorine levels on the high end, and I don't let it drop in the winter.
