Oyyy … frustrated

So this means you are really in a true SLAM Process mode now. The last pic of your water was really much better than I expected, and your water held the first dose of FC quite well. So now you can monitor the FC at intervals that seem appropriate based on how fast the FC tries to drop. First time you waited 30 minutes, so the next time maybe wait an hour. Eventually it will spread out much longer. Just depends. But watch your test kit reagents. You don't want to run our of the powder & drops. :hammer:

I felt like it didn’t hold . It was only 30 minutes.

In between FC testing, be sure to watch your filter pressure. If it increases by about 25% from the clean pressure, it's time for a cleaning or backwash. Also be sure to take note of all the other items on the SLAM Process page. Your cleaner will help in some areas, but there may be some items you have to actively attend to like steps, up high on walls, etc. If you have a main drain, at some point you might need to try and look in there. If you have a large removable light in the pool, you might need to remove it and lay it on teh decking (power off) so that the chlorine can get in the niche area. But it's all part of the SLAM Process.

The FC is going to fall. How fast depends on the amount of algae, sunlight, etc. They key is getting into a good routine of testing and adjusting the FC to where it needs to be. A drop of a few ppm is normal. You're on the right track.

Checked before bed It was 17 . Added fc . This morning checked it , it was 18 . Added LC
I’ll wait till this afternoon to check again see how that goes.
That's fantastic. :goodjob: Your FC is holding. FC doesn't just go up on its own, so I suspect that was either a testing error or had something to do with calculating the volume of your pool and dosage amount. But that's a great number to hold.

I'm going to be away a bit until Monday, so the others will help coach you for a while. Continue the good work and testing. Brush all areas and watch your filter pressure. Post a pic of your water later today and perhaps do a final Overnight Chlorine Loss Test to ensure you are algae free. But you are looking really good right now. Keep up the great work. :goodjob:

Adjusted back up to 20 last night after rain.
Tested free chlorine this morning and I am 20 so that is good news
But continued the test and after 5 drops of 003 the water didn’t turn pink . Does that mean I have no combined chlorine 🥴

Yep it does. If your water is clear with no signs of algae your SLAM is complete!

Gorgeous! :swim:
Thanks … ugh ohh maybe I got excited too quickly. Checked free chlorine just now.
Definitely lost quite a bit of fc since 830 this morning . Did the test 3 times came up with between 15 -17 fc after it held last night.
Is this normal ? Sun was out strong today but it was the most chlorine loss since I started the slam . Suggestions ?

Now that you have passed theOvernight Chlorine Loss Test and other SLAM criteria, you are algae free.... For now. It is acceptable here at TFP to lose about 4 ppm or less if FC in a 24 hr period. Maybe a little more if there's a swim party. If you lose more than 4 ppm, it may be time to increase the CYA just a little.

Hello again
So I checked again this morning before work. , fc was at 15 . I understand the fact that I was holding overnight 2 nights ago was great. But please remember what brought me to finally post here … the fact that I had a clear pool but couldn’t hold chlorine !
Stopped home just now . Checked , chlorine is down to 11.5. I saw Texas ‘ post about how fast chlorine can dissipate.
I checked Cyanuric acid again, still seems to be between 45-55.
I know this pool lol. Not as good as you guys but I’m still not confident that my chlorine won’t all be gone day after day.
Any help will be appreciated.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but you are no longer in SLAM mode right? You passed all of the SLAM criteria over the weekend. So now the FC is expected to fall back to the normal range. That is perfectly normal. During the SLAM, you had to work aggressively to test and add chlorine frequently to maintain that elevated level to kill the algae, but not now. Now the extra FC in the water is getting burned off by the sun. Eventually the FC will drop below 10, then finally to your ideal target range noted on the FC/CYA Levels. Once it gets to that range, all you have to do is add X-amount of chlorine (or bleach) each day to feed your pool-pet. Pools eat FC everyday. My 18K pool would eat half a gallon of chlorine per day in the summer. That was about 2.5 ppm for me. You'll see a pattern in your pool as well.
