Hi - looking for some feedback on our design, initially wanted only coping around the pool + 9 feet of decking for loungers on the entry side. We’d like to conserve some grass space (roughly 20ft of grass past the pool) so we thought about removing loungers from entry side and adding more decking on the patio to allow for them. Ultimately I have zero talent for design and need some feedback here.

I’m now thinking we go back to the 9ft of decking on entry, do 1ft of decking around the coping (for a total of 2ft) and then have two 2ft x 8ft paver steps from patio into pool area.

One other question was about the bench location, putting it all the way on the deep end can shield it a bit from the main patio area as the house jets out a bit. We’re thinking leaving it on the side to allow for a no hazard swim lane area for the kids, any possible issues?

Appreciate the help!

I like your idea of leaving the steps/bench on the side of the pool for what you stated-a good swim lane! That is well done!

For the grass on the house side I would NOT do it. That is going to be a mess to take are of it over time and cause problems with grass/dirt/stuff in the pool as well. What I would do is have the decking from the patio all the way to the pool is a solid pour. While the squares outlined in grass looks good in concept the practical part makes it not a good idea.

A love a good bench to chill on and enjoy but I would not have one all along that side of the pool. My worry is people running from the house to jump in the pool. I worry they will not jump far enough out so they might hit the bench on the way in.
