Hiya -- we are enjoying our second summer with this gunite pool in Manchester-by-the-Sea (MA). We had a great designer who collaborated with us to make our idea of a pond-like pool nestled into the wooded surroundings a reality. The spa is designed to be like a crescent sofa looking over the vanishing edge into the woods, with a small overflow allowing easy transition from spa to pool and back, with a sitting ledge providing more social space in the cooler water. We heat the main pool as little as possible, relying on the spa for comfortable lounging and enjoying the contrast with the bracing low-mid 70's of the main pool. We heat it up for guests / parties.

We're maintaining the water on our own with little effort so far. The vanishing edge does an amazing job as a huge skimmer moving tree detritus into the trough. I just use simple test strips to guide my addition of acid or shock, and take a water sample to a local pool center for analysis and guidance. So far so good! But I expect I'll geek out a little more and get into more sophisticated home testing before long.

Have heard great things about this site and looking forward to participating in the conversations here!
