Optimal Time to run pump?

I am going to be away for four days beginning tomorrow. I have been SLAMing for the past 11 days(!) and I don't want the pool to regress in my absence, but I'm hesitant to run the pump 24/7 when I'm not home. Any thoughts on the most effective time of day to run the pump for 8 - 10 hours? Also, in general, is it true that the pump will use less electricity if I run it constantly as opposed to setting the timer? I realize that there will be less debris if I run it constantly, but I don't want to burn out the pump motor or go broke paying my electric bill!

Are you done with the SLAM? How are you going to chlorinate while you are gone?

Unless you are going to have someone come and continue your SLAM or your pump running is how you are going to add chlorine you do not need to run your pump 24/7 while you are gone. They are made to do that so no need to worry about 'burn out'. You do not show what type of pump you have but if single speed then it does consume more electricity than 2 speed or VS.

With out more information it is hard to provide feedback on how to manage your 4 days away.

Take care.

Not quite done with the SLAM. I have a Hayward 1HP "super pump" single speed. No one available to "pool-sit". Was considering dropping 3-4 3" stabilized "hockey puck" chlorinating tabs into the in-line chlorine feeder and an extra half gallon of chlorine. I'm currently holding about 14 ppm FC and ~35 ppm CYA.

Assume you will put the pucks in a floater? If so run the pump in the daylight so you have less dead areas with sunlight hitting them. But I suspect you will come back to a regression in your SLAM.

Take care.
