Ohhhhh...

Will a SWG stop producing if FC is over 20ppm? PB said it would stop production. I have it cranked at 100% to play the game with him for warranty purposes. I gained .5 through the night, Sunday into Monday morning. I felt it should have been more. I lost 2.5 ppm FC Yesterday with pool uncovered and I swam. Did not check it yet today as I'm already at work but I will when I get home. I'm coming out of the SLAM but feel like with the SWG on at his request, I shouldn't be losing right? I had it turned off during the SLAM and addition of last bag of salt. I'm at 3400 salinity. I honestly feel like its not working and this is gonna be long n drawn out. I'm not adding any chlorine to the pool so if it turns green then I'll send him the pics n bill for liquid chlorine cuz that :poop: is getting expensive.

Don’t wait for it to turn green- if you have passed the oclt then do an overnight chlorine gain test to determine whether the cell is producing or not. That should be proof that can’t be denied.
That unit has no way of knowing your chlorine level. It has a tri sensor that detects flow, salinity, & temperature.

The thought, while silly, kinda scares me. I'm now surprised that the industry who is against a FC above 4 *doesn't* have a sensor to stop chlorine production. Thank goodness for cost effectiveness and profit margins. PHEW.

Well, they kinda do - orp dispense systems but the user sets the parameters for most of those I believe.

If you have ORP, then it can stop when it reaches the set ORP level, but it has no idea what the FC is.

I don't think that you have ORP, right?
I'm not sure. It's a Jandy.

Do you have any boxes that look like these? If not you likely do not have an orp system. When you were building everyone here would have likely dissuaded you from getting it.

If it was not producing, it would give an error.

Do you see hydrogen bubbles from the returns?

Are you sure that it is programmed correctly?

The only way to tell for sure is to measure how much power it is using.

How do I check how much power it's using? I thought I just could check FC with the test kit?

You can check FC, but you lose a lot at SLAM levels.

The loss rate isn't a simple X ppm per day, it depends on the FC/CYA ratio.

If you have a 30% ratio, you lose 4 times as much FC per hour during the day than at a 7.5% ratio.
