SPLIT PEA SOUP!!!!

(How many times do I have to say that :brickwall: )

You’re sooooooo east coast!!

Pea soup, such an acquired taste. My bubba (grandmother) made such a good one from scratch, if it’s not done correctly, it will ruin a person from ever trying it again.
But yes, ham bone (done in a real pressure cooker) is the base stock of a true pea soup!!

Did up a little roasted red pasta last night. Simple recipe with some chicken added, served with whole wheat pasta. Yummy.

(sorry pics uploaded backwards in order)

What’s the base for the sauce Rob? Looks like diced tomatoes and stock? I guess everyone was having pasta this past weekend....

It’s a jar of roasted red peppers, with half the liquid drained out, and half a bottle of chili sauce. Garlic cloves minced, salt & pepper, and sautéed chicken. Simmer a bit, add pasta and fresh parm, then WHOLE grape tomatoes. (My wife likes to cut them in half because they turn into little balls of fire when hot. ) But I always sneak back in the whole ones. I like living dangerously! :laughblue:

Broke in our new Kamado Joe last night with Salmon, marinated chicken, Bacon cheddar burgers, and hot dogs - so good! Really liking this kamado thing....

I have to say I really like this one!!! It’s definitely a slow sipping beer (9.7% ABV) not a chugging beer.

Yeah I’d say so. Nuttin like drinking a beer where they mention a St Patrick’s day massacre right on the bottle.

Lagunitas beers always have an odd description written around the label. Gives you something to think about while slowly becoming inebriated

I made a pork roast this time with apples, onions, fresh herbs and a maple syrup drizzle -

There’s also a tart apple sauce to go with it -

Yup, looks good.

Pork roast is always a yummy dish, I picked up one yesterday at Costco.

I really liked that recipe as it was a “one pan wonder” - everything is prep’d and cooked in one cast-iron pan. And the pork loin cooks in about an hour (my oven only took 50mins) so it’s a quick meal too.
