Goob we really like the exposed aggregate for our surroundings. In the end it will be a good choice even with the few drawbacks. Biggest concern is heat but we could not justify the added expense of cool deck or travertine just to gain a slight difference in temp. If you go this route make sure you are there to watch as they expose the rock...its awesome!

Your decking looks great! I also like the steps- different elevations help add another touch of character :). All of your choices are blending so well together! I can't wait to see your black onyx plaster... In my mind I think that plaster choice will be an awesome compliment with all the colors and surroundings!

Thanks Texas Dobie...I just bought 3 trees for the very back that will be big shade trees one day. 2 Texas Red Oaks and 1 Texas Live Oak...now I will focus on smaller plants.
 
Omg, Cliff!! It's like the plaster fairies slipped in and covered your pool in beautiful, dark granite blanket of fairy dust! I cannot wait to see water in it!! It will be perfect for your setting, absolutely perfect!

Honestly, you are such a quiet one.... I'm sure you told us this was happening today, but it had to be a while back. We're used to pool owners excitedly chattering on about the arrival of plaster day - everyday - for at least a week before! Not a peep from you! We missed it!

It's tradition that Kim wakes up her usual early time and posts, "It's tomorrow! Wake-y, wake-y! Are the trucks there? You're getting plastered today!" Then we all follow along and start pestering you for pictures!!

Well Cliff, you're just going to have to tell them to come back tomorrow and do it again, so we can have our party! You're one calm, cool dude! I should have been keeping a better eye on you...

Have you tested your tap water? What IS the plan with start-up. Can you begin testing right away, or does your PB arrange for that? When will they crank up the equipment?

Has the water started going in? Do you have wash rags tied around the ends of the hoses? You can also add empty plastic floating bottles with the rags to keep it off the plaster.

Thanks, Danny! I don't know how I missed seeing the band, but I sure did.

'pick the right plaster...' Shame on you! You may have to go sit in time-out! :hammer: I think my heart might have stopped if you had asked me that after my plaster. "Really, OMG! I knew I picked the wrong one! How do they change it?" (ahhhh, I've grown up so much here on TFP!)
 
Suz you are so kind...I did post a few times but I don't want to bother with so many folks need the attention of the mods and experts. Water is going in as I type this and yes there are water bottles attached. Water will get tested when full and about an hour after the equipment gets turned on tomorrow> I will check the water at least twice a day for the first few days (for practice and stability). Are you sure yellow stripes won't look good on that road surface looking plaster :)

Oh goodness, you are never a bother! Again, I'm sorry I didn't remember. Now you don't have to wait until the pool is filled to send us pictures. Anytime is fine with us! Are the kids hopping up and down? Are you? Is your wife? We want to hear about the excitment!!!

That's great the equipment will be started up tomorrow. I've read some Friday plasters don't get equipment up and running until Monday; that always concerns me. Remember on testing not to bother testing the CYA yet. There won't be any until you add it. Perfect on your water testing plan for the first week. Is your PB aware that you're practically a pro now that you've been studying TFP? I let my start-up guy know. Then each day he came out (about 2 or 3), I showed him my test results. He then said he'd come once a week as long as I texted him my results and told him what I thought I should add (well, what the guys here told me to add....LOL!!!). He appreciated it, because he knew I was good to go, and it saved him extra trips.

Do you need any help with testing so far? Are you using the PoolMath app or the PoolMath button at the top of the page? Any questions about PoolMath? If you aren't using the app, do you have a record sheet to record results? There are some log sheets others have made which we can pull up, or I have one I made which I can share. You may be covered on all of this already, so just ignore it if so. I want to make sure you feel comfortable with things so far.

One more thing...... Post your test results and any related questions here on your build thread. (I wasn't sure where to go when I first began testing). You're already here on the 'UC', and we all know you and will be looking for your water testing. For those building a pool and haven't ventured yet into the other sections of TFP, it will give them a look at how and what info to post. And how TFP helps guide you! It really is exciting!!!
 
Oh my Suz we and especially the girls are so excited. I will post everything on this thread...thanks for the tip on that. No need to ever apologize cause you are super helpful. I am sure I will have lots of question on testing until I get it down and I did download the phone app for my iphone and looking forward to using it.
 
So we started filling the pool around 5:30 yesterday evening and here we are at noon today. Almost there...I was so excited/nervous I was up 4 times last night checking things plus there were heavy rainstorms last night. The girls and Charlee can't wait to get in but I'm doing my best to hold them off until the 4th :D

I would jump in that right now. Except it's probably too cold. We were in our pool before it was full. An acid washed pebble finish is much more cured than a plain plaster finish.

The water will be green for several days, at least, because tap water is surprisingly green.
 
I agree the water is a little chilly pooldv. It showed 76 this morning. I'm letting the PB do his thing until the SWG gets turned on then its all TFP! Unless you have different thoughts??

I would allow him BUT with you checking behind him. You REALLY need to keep any eye on the PH. It will push up daily for a while due to the plaster curing.

Man that looks pretty! I can't wait to see the color with it is all balanced!
