I just ordered new CYA reagent and CYA standard from TFTkits and none of the containers show an expiration date. Why's that? I expected that they'd be dated. How would one know how old they are and when they expire?

CYA reagent has no expiration date. Keep it in climate controlled conditions and it will last 'forever'.

What about the standard? I thought there was some concern that the CYA standard solution could go bad over time.

There's a "best by" date on my big bottle of CYA reagent.15986152987346823817591081031827.jpg. My guess is that it's about 2 years from manufacture. Not disagreeing that it may not actually go bad.

That's a good question on expiration dates. The R-0013 Taylor bottles do have dates on them and the TFT reagents are the same as Taylor. I wonder if it's some obscure law that certain items need dates. I got a salt grinder from Costco with an expiration date on it. Take millions of years old salt, put it in a container and it now expires.

I was curious about this as well and emailed them about it. This is what they told me:

I guarantee all reagents for a year, so if there is no color change or abnormal reading that you get, I will replace that reagent. I am very small and only order what I will ship.
