Check the exp. date on liquid chlorine and bleach!

Ugh, that’s annoying! That‘s one reason I like filling up at Pinch a Penny - their supplies are much fresher, especially with our long pool season.

Chlorine doesn't expire, it continuously loses strength after it is produced. If stored out of sunlight in a cool environment it can remain potent for quite some time and as the potency drops the rate at which it drops decreases. When my new pool was finished I used some 12.5% chlorine that had sat outside for a year in the cardboard case and the result indicates it was still about 6% chlorine.

Always check dates and get as fresh as you can for maximum strength and longevity, but there is no reason old product cannot be used and Clorox is off-base claiming that liquid chlorine "expires".
