My newest thought is specific to Intex rectangular style pools, that due to the amount of movement of the walls that those of us that hard pipe it with PVC might want to consider using a flexible pipe from the pool to the hard piping. After having my first Intex up a couple of years, some of the connections (unions, screw connections, etc) looked to be taking a beating (my son and his friends are not the sit and float type lol...) The typical pool hoses seem to always develop pin hole leaks and need replacing every couple of years regardless. I started to look around and having a racing background I thought of a Silicone hose (rated to 30psi) might be an interesting idea. Unfortunately, the only one I found was straight and would only replace 2 of my 3 hoses (not sure how it would handle bends), not to mention $50+ ea. Today I stumbled across something that gave me another idea and led me to this (rated to 40psi) which is less than $25. Ordered 1 to see how it goes. Hopefully this will last longer as it is more durable.
