New to pools; Water milky white, cloudy; with Iron

No problem. You got this! Continue with the SLAM FC level. It might aggravate the iron which in your case is fine because you are still filtering. The more you remove now the better anyway. The chlorine will kill whatever caused your water to get cloudy. Normally a rain by itself doesn't impact TFP water so much, but odd things happen. Stick with it and you'll bounce back in no time. I'm sure of it. You have the tools and knowledge now to take care of it. :goodjob:

Thanks for the confidence! 😊 should I lower my PH? Or leave as is for now?

😮‍💨😄 problem resolved lol. Thanks again guys! View attached!

I'm thinking I should begin removing the bucket! -Any steps to doing that?

-Anything I should clean beforehand?
-should I clean inside the pump basket?
-should I let the water wash into the grass before connecting it to the outlet jet?

Thanks a bunch friends 😊

Great job. :goodjob: Jess may have better tips than me at this point. I would think cleaning the pump strainer basket might be a good idea since it's stained from iron. Perhaps soak it in a batch of water and Vitamin C, or maybe make a paste out of Vitamin C tabs and rub it all over the plaster then rinse. Give your filter carts a good rinsing. Letting any residual hose water purge before reconnecting seems like a good idea.

Taking down the bucket requires some skill and caution. If you have the ability to drain it out the backside - do that first. You don't want to undo all your hard work!

Might want to check your return hose too - sometimes the iron gets accumulated in there and can gush some water back into the pool even after you think you've filtered it all out. I would give everything a solid rinse like Pat said above - filter carts, strainer baskets... anywhere that iron touched it's going to flush back into your pool when you take the bucket down.

This is ALL NORMAL - just part of the cycling to get it out of the pool!

How's the chems looking? Are you holding up on your FC, PH?

Awesome. Will do today!

I haven't checked PH since FC is still high. FC seems to be holding at night until abt 11am when the sun is pretty high. Then the sun eats eats it up lol so I just replenish back up to 16. I know combined chlorine is between .2 and .5 and FC stays at 1. The pool is pretty clear but I think it can be clearer. Either that or I'm paranoid about cloudiness happening again 😳

PH won't be accurate until you're under a 10 on FC. Totally okay to be paranoid about cloudiness... the "this is too good to be true" factor is a real thing!

Take down the bucket - and see how that goes.
Then start to naturally let your FC drop to the TOP of the range of FC for your CYA... I'm personally learning how to re-manage FC in this heatwave!
