Just ordered a Hayward aquarite aqr15 SWG and am pretty excited for it. Was just curious where is the best place to buy the 900 or so lbs of salt I need to dump into the pool in order to get started. Also do I just dump it in one bag after another or is there i pattern I should follow in order to introduce all that salt into the pool. Thanks!!!

I bought mine at Pinch a Penny. You just want to be sure it’s all salt with nothing weird added. I’ve seen recommendations to use water softener salt as well.

Just dump it all in and hop in (or throw the kids in) and kick it around! Doesn’t take long to dissolve.

Dont turn on SWG until salt has been dissolved for 24 hours.

Do you have salt test kit? Taylor K-1766 is the one I use.

Nick,

You really need to know what the salt level is before you add any more... You could already have 1000 ppm or more in your pool water now, unless you just drained and refilled..

Thanks,

Jim R.

Watch out on the amount of salt you put in. I thought my test strips would be ok. They ended being off by 1000ppm.

I would go 40-80 lbs less than needed. You can always add more and is better than having to drain and fill.

If your in Texas H-E-B has 50 lbs bags that were a great price.
