New pool/spa build in North Texas Updated: PICS

"Was the abalone shell an expensive upgrade? We are getting close to our finish and we are wanting stonescapes tahoe blue mini pebble. I wonder how the abalone shell would look in that?"

Actually, for the tropics blue color, the abalone shell comes standard. I really like the tahoe blue as well, but this is what made me go with the tropics.

All other colors, the abalone shell is an upgrade. The tropics blue really is beautiful - gives the water a rich turquoise carribean color. I'll have pics posted shortly - pool is filling as we speak.

Almost there!! Can't wait to see it filled up - it looks like they did a stellar job on the finish!

Couple of shots with water real quick. The stamped concrete will be highlighted and sealed next week so it will look much different than it's current state. Merry x-mas everyone

I returned from vacation to discover an interesting issue with the spa spillway. It appears it was not built completely level, but this is very difficult to see with the naked eye.

On one side of the spa, that water seems to pool together and launch off the spillway into the pool. It's very odd.

I am meeting with the pool builder tomorrow to discuss this and a couple other issues.

The true test will be in how the PB handles this issue as worst case scenario would involve stripping the tile and re leveling the spillway.

Another note is that the PB currently has 100% of total balance due

Stay tuned...

I just want you to know when I first saw that picture I instantly "hated" you because my breath was taken away with how beautiful it was. Ha. Sorry that you are having an issue. I am sure it will work out. Just remember that when it is fixed, I will probably "hate" you even more. Ha again!

How much flow were you running through the spa when that picture was taken?

I wasn't even running the spillway full speed. This was simply the overflow from the cleaning heads running.

When cleaning heads runs. The water runs down the entire spillway evenly except for the side where the waterfall effect is created.

When cleaning heads are not running and pump is running on low for freeze protection, the water most runs off on the right side - spillway is slightly off level, maybe a centimeter or two.

Thanks Ken. You know how these things go. PB is testing my patience. Pool has to be drained and re acid washed due to streaking in the pebble finish. Even tho the streaks were clearly visible they decided to fill the pool anyway.

How is the water chemistry going? You are not feeding my geeky side enough! I need more information.

I ordered my tf 100 test kit but have not received it yet. Pool builder maintains the pool for first 3 months. Of course I will post the numbers as soon as the test kit arrives.

Ken, do you know if any special procedures were used on leveling your infinity edge? If it's off by even a hair, the flow won't be even.

Bama,

Couple of centimeters is maybe a bit harsh. Here is a pic, very difficult to see. Is 5-7mm normal and acceptable? It's very difficult to see and with very very low flow is the only instance where water flow over the spillway is not even
