Who are you using to do your landscape?

Texas tree & landscape based out of Prosper, Tx

Couple of reasons why I like them:
* The prices are reasonable
* quality of work is good as I've viewed some of their work at a neighbors house
* they are certified irrigation specialists - all in house. Every other landscaper outsources this which triples the cost
* they are allowing me to source all my trees from tree land in Celina, Tx. This allows me to get a really good price, an 18 month warranty, and I get to pick out each individual tree myself - my OCD loves this aspect

Sounds good...I may give them a call. I have purchsed some shrubs already. I kinda have a plan in mnd, but would like some help. I just want the landscaping to look good when its finished. The soil is clay and will need to be ammended so the plants will thrive.

They till peat moss and fresh soil into the beds which helps quite a bit

Tree Land is the absolute best. We bought all our trees from them and could not be happier. The best part is you can ride around in a golf cart and tag all the trees you want. Adds up fast though!

Did you see what kind of sand they used to fill the joints after completion? Was it regular sand or polymeric sand?

Thanks. How level are your travertine pavers? i.e. Do you have some joints where some pavers are lower than their neighbor? Or, are they all pretty much perfectly level?

They are fairly level. But I think it's unreasonable for it to be perfectly level. There is some lipping here and there, but nothing that you would stub your toe on.

Bhargraves, so what do you think of the travertine?

I like it, though they finished in complete darkness so hard to tell. I do see some fairly big levelness gaps, so will have to see in the AM. I'll try to take a picture and send to you for comparison to your levelness.

Here are a couple pics of possible problem areas. Looks like some 2-3mm "steps". Also a big gap by one of the skimmers. Am I being too picky?

Was this right after they finished? Or after it settled? I have no experience with travertine (other than mine being started today). But I would be upset..... Maybe some that has experience will chime in?

jamcha02, did they run a plate compactor over the travertine also, or just the base?

I don't get it....it's laid on level sand...how did they even get it so uneven? It would take work to do that.....
