I have to take the pool down. I'm going to remove the insulation board and take it with me and dig the pavers out. So much work.
Your new house is beautiful! Glad you found a liner, it's crazy how it is right now.

I'm sure you know this, but double check city requirements. Our four foot fence didn't meet code, and we ended up with a safety fence on our AGP. It's nice, because balls don't fly out of the pool, but was just one more expense and hassle and it makes dealing with the solar cover a HUGE pain. If I could magically turn our 4ft fence in to a 6ft privacy fence, I totally would.
Last year I had a large Doughboy AGP installed behind my house and I have a sloped back yard as well. That slope could be a major issue. I had to dig into the slope as trucking in tons of dirt to build a platform was too expensive. Talk to your code enforcement official before you start to install as mine had lots of good advice I wish I knew of before I started my project. The placement of the pump, filter and maybe heater will have to be considered if your town requires the standard 36' "setback" for those. Yes, I see lots of large filters right next to the pool, but I doubt those are to code and it will certainly void your homeowners insurance if anything is not to code and you will be liable if anything happens. If your town requires "pool fencing" find out at what height is and keep in mind the pool wall can be your barrier, but only if the height and type of wall is acceptable. Once you start digging into the slope, if you must, the height of the pool wall obviously get's lower. It's the pool wall edge closest to the top of the slope that's the issue. Also, most codes require a 36" horizontal space out from the pool wall/pool fence or barrier to meet code. What that means is that if you have a slope that goes right up pool wall, the typical height of 48" starts 36" from the edge, so if 36" out from the wall is 12" higher that right next to the wall you need a barrier of 60" which can be a combination of pool wall and fencing. I've been through a lot with my pool and deck install and every failed code inspection could have been avoided if the builders had followed the code. Once scam pool fence installers use is that they say their "fence is to code" it's your landscape that's the problem. My code guy warned me of this and EVERY fence installer I spoke to used some variation of it. The bottom line is you are liable not the fence company if you fail inspection, or get sued, so be careful and plan well.
The fence will just enclose their area. If I'm forced to fence the whole pool with that stuff that attaches to the post of the pool, the pool will get a whole deck surround. I'm not going to be closed into my pool n not be able to sweep it from outside the pool. My neighbor just went through this n her insurance company flew a drone over her house n made her install that fence rail on the pool. She said it is horrible to vac the pool with it on.Are you fencing all/most of it? Your dogs are going to be so happy!

I'm not quite at permit stage so when I get to that point, I'll be looking at what they want for code. The last one, the 54in wall was the fence.
Good plan! We needed a minimum of 5 ft, so the pool alone doesn't hit it. Ugh.
My husband walks the rail to vac at opening and closing (lots of leaves), but we let the robot handle it the rest of the time. I'd fall in if I tried to do it his way.
I have two VERY aggressive volleyball players in my house, so it's probably best we ended up with the safety fence. They play until all the balls are out, then whoever hit the most out has to get out and collect them. Lately they've turned to dodge "ball" - if it floats and they can throw it at each other, it's fair game. Those little drink float things are wicked!
Who knew the 56 yr old would be as bad as the 13 yr old?

I got word yesterday by email that my liner is on it's way to my Momma's house. I can now set it up as soon as we close if I want. I'm going to take the pool down the day we close n bring it home. Sounds so weird saying "bring it home". July 13th and I can close this chapter of the first installment of My Horrible Life 2020.

I also have someone picking up my Dad's new toy he barely got to use. It's a John Deere back home with a bucket. I'm going to use it to clear my pool area.
For all the wrong reasons...Things are looking up at last. This is a year you will never forget
I'm moving on and the bright side is, in 2 weeks from Monday we should be home. Our new home. I can not wait. We will be having a house blessing ceremony the day we get the keys. Not one item will enter the home until it is blessed.
