New Pool Owner

150 and not 250-300
So make it 150. It is better than 100.

Although I would go to the high range they recommend of 250.

Low calcium causes the water to suck it out of the plaster which weakens the plaster.

While you are contemplating what to do your low calcium water is weakening the plaster. It is not sitting there waiting for you to do something.

Ty. It is almost 150 today. Need to buy more chems to slightly raise it to 150+. Pebble tech recommends 150 to 200 max during the30 day cure period and then the higher recommendation of 200 to 250 after 30 days.

Ty. I do see that. I guess my PB was advising me of middle ranges and not full range. Either way I need to buy a few more chemicals from tractor supply or a box store warehouse. Being a new pool owner, I’m still looking for sources for my chemicals. I live about 20 miles from town and trying to find something closer and away from the pool stores.

Thanks again for all of your help. I have one more week of cure time of my pebble sheen plaster finish. The pool looks great and crystal clear. My question are as follows: after spending some time on this forum, I am seriously considering adding a IC 40 chlorinator to go salt water. My big question is, though I do not buy products from Leslie to treat my pool, they are running a sale with free installation of their equipment. I can purchase a Pentair IC 40 chlorinator and the required box to supply the power for less than $2000 including installation. The second question is: I already have 110 outlet right next to where the chlorinator would go. Do I still need the power supply box that they say I need? I have a basic system that is not automated. I have to push buttons or use my Pentair app to control the speed of the pump and lights. I am assuming I will have to do the same thing when I begin using my heat pump (heat and cool) sometime later this month, after cure time is over. I may or may not go fully automated in the coming years but a bit too short on money to do that at this point, especially when it might be 3-$4000. That price might be high, but that’s from the pool builder. I am a disabled veteran, so I am limited on some of the work that needs hand strength, but I still do what I can still do. Maintaining my pool will be one of them:)

That's a great deal. I'm seeing $1700 to $2000 for just the cell and controller right now. $500 for installation is fair most places, and some charge well beyond that, so i'd jump on Leslie's offer.
Do I still need the power supply box that they say I need?
Yes. It's an AC to DC transformer / converter. The controller lasts several cells, so the first few replacements only need the cell.

Do you have the Intelliflo3 with Relay board? If so, I believe you want to wire the SWCG power center through that so power to it is controlled to when the pump is running.

They IO Relay board can, and should, be added to the Intelliflo3 pump.

Thank you I will check on that. I do know that I have a 16 amp relay for the pool lights that show on the app.. I will get the model number off the pump and investigate. Sadly, my PB has been pretty much absent since the pool was finished. His excuse is 30% of the pools he’s put in this year as customers complaining, and I am one of them. I’m not sure if he has lowered his standard for contractors or if he has just been over stretched or too busy to pay attention to detail.

I can connect to two pieces of pool equipment. So far just a pool lighting.

Yup, you have the IO Board and can use the other relay for the IntelliChlor.

Make sure the installer wires the Intellichlor Power Center through the relay.

What’s your opinion on staying pent air or using another option like, CircuPool SWCG? Again, i’m pretty much plain Jane with no automation. I have PA app and one of two relays available for use.

Flip a coin. They both have their pros and cons.

The Circupool RJ gives you 5% increments versus the 20% you will have on an IntelliChlor without automation.

Pentair has the IntelliChlor Plus cells coming out this year that will include SmartSense™ technology to accurately adjust chlorine output when the pump is off. There may be other improvements that have not been announced yet.

Lots of folks are happy with both.
