New pool install

So pool starts Monday woohoo...I have a quick question. The plan was having 2 skimmers and 2 returns all 2" lines, my pool builder suggested having 3 returns at 1.5" all run separate back to the pad and keep the 2" on the suction side. Looking at it from inside diameter 1.5" is 1.590×3=4.77 2" has 2.047×2=4.094. This seems like a solid plan, thoughts?

Hopefully the weather holds up a little longer for you.
Well its supposed to be warm for the rest if the week...the plan is to just close it after liner. The equipment pad will be plumbed and wired. Then we will do a spring start up. My Pb is going to talk with Hayward first tho to make sure warranty can be postponed until spring otherwise I want to do the start up now if possible.

This is how they finished the day...tomorrow they have to finish the equipment pad and then cover the pool...electrical will follow. Then next spring my PB will come out with a Hayward rep for start up and automation set up...

On one hand, it sucks that they tease you like this, just to put it away for the winter immediately. But on the other hand, it's a bird in the hand for next year, even if the shortages return, or whatever else might gi down. (y)

Electrical was being done this week and guess what, even tho I sent omni pl specs to my electrician telling him it was a 100 amp panel the conduit he used (and is buried now)is not big enough to fit the size wires needed. So the electrician tries to talk me out of the omni pl saying he doesn't like using sub panels. He states it creates more draw on the house...im like what??? He states direct lines are better. I told him the PL is staying and they will have to redig the trench.

I cannot fathom these people anymore.
I know right...I went further and explained running the 100 sub panel should be a standard practice in my opinion as it makes it future proof if anything was to be added you have the power there available. Geez

Yep at the end of the day most contractors do what they do because most people don't question them. We need more educated people to ask questions, and know what to look for. This is not just for pools it's for everything. Put it with way if I didn't question anything with this pool I would have a 1 hp single stage pump 1.5" lines, no automation, ball valves, an inline chlorinator, gas heater and enough electricity to run this so if I ever wanted to upgrade I would be screwed with my patio over the lines.
Man I would have been screwed....
Fortunately I had good communication with my pool builder I asked him why no one ever changes equipment he said because it's simple and it works, I said I feel it's because customers are uneducated and don't know better...same with the electrician most people don't understand it and will just listen to whatever they say because they know better...😳

I guess the hundreds of thousand if not millions of sub panels installed throughout the country are wrong. Sounds more like he was looking for an excuse and hoping you bought into it for not have to redo the work he was supposed to do the first time. There is nothing wrong with installing and using a sub-panel for pool equipment. In fact, there are many reasons you would opt to install one. Glad you stood your ground :)

Oh yeah I wasn't having it at all...lol the conversation went like this. He comes over and says why don't we talk to hayward you don't need this panel. Then he says the whole 100 amp panel thing on how he doesn't like them and they make the house lights dim...lol
I tell him this gives me control over everything plus anything in the future. (he says but you live here how much control do you need) First I say its not a NEED but a want, two im a tech guy, I love automation, and lastly how about vacation I want to control from anywhere. Plus this is bundled with the salt cell and will control it without another controller. I tell him I did a lot of research and I don't need to talk to the Hayward reps this is what I want. And as far as dimming the lights inside you may be the electrician but that doesn't make sense to me. I also stated that when picking the electrician for my job the other 2 both said they use 100 amp panels...he still says ill do it but I don't like them...get to digging lol
Oh and one more thing he was going to use aluminum wire until I told him it has to be copper wires only in the panel and it says it right inside the door...geez who is the professional here
