New Pool Buda (just south of Weird) Texas - November 2017

Forget the label. Use PoolMath. No problem using liquid CYA when mixed in well. To the best of my knowledge it's always 35% and that's what PoolMath is based on. (by the way, thanks for looking up the SDS) The stuff you showed is plain vanilla liquid CYA. And no harm adding powder after previously using liquid CYA.

Now Texas BBQ. That's a whole nother topic. I know a good ole boy from 'bama who said...

No wait, I wont say that... I love 'em both :)

Thanks for the quick response, Matt! I was following along right up until your last two words. So if the label claimed a level of 30 in 12K gallons of pool water (give or take), can I continue to assume, as I have been, that my pool has a CYA level of 30, as referenced by TFP in all it's advice and charts and Pool Math calculations? I'm in the clear and haven't succumbed to any Leslie's evil? It's just as if I added the equivalent amount of the granules you all recommend? And won't cause any problems when I do add more granular CYA for my upcoming conversion to a salt water pool?

Is that image your official beckoning signal? Can it be used by all? Are there any ordinances about its use, or misuse? What if I just want to ask about pool toys? Or get a cat out of a tree?

Thanks again...

Much like the Dark Knight himself, I troll (troll, not trawl) the threads of TFP looking out for malefactors and ne'er-do-well‘s who would seek to inflict harm upon the great pillars of science, truth and common sense...I am able to leap short step ladders in a single bound, unencumbered by rational thoughts and highly motivated by all forms of flame-cooked meats!

Beware evil poolers, for I am everywhere and nowhere and, when you glimpse the dull flame of my intellect, it is already too late.....

(Dirk, PM if you have a specific question but, honestly speaking, you’re likely to get a more useful answer from one of those Magic 8 Ball toys from the 70’s...)

Pool math! Of course... 128oz of liquid CYA is exactly 30. OK, whew.

Sorry for jumpin' off the deep end there (oh, see what I did there?), it's just that I've really been raked over the coals by pool professionals. They destroyed my pool's plaster, sold me things I shouldn't own, installed things with known defects, subjected my family to harmful water, blatantly broken multiple laws and run when confronted with making any of that right. (I have a lawsuit pending.)

The silver lining of that woeful tale is that it lead me to TFP, so there is a happy ending. But that's why I've been so hyper about taking care of my pool myself, and doing so absolutely perfectly. I've made exactly one mistake so far, but it was a doozy: it was that blasted liquid CYA. I poured it in my pool wrong and burned my brand new plaster!!

So when it raised its ugly little head again yesterday, I freaked out!

Thanks for talking me off the ledge, guys. I appreciate your help (as always) and especially the quick responses...

Cheers.
