Pool recently installed (deck currently being built). No pool school yet (although I’ve owned a pool before) so pool company has been managing water once a week.

Today they came round and I noticed after they had left, that they had removed the chlorine tablets from the floater and had turned the SWG on (it had been disabled).

I have no ability to test salinity right now but my omni logic is reporting an average salt reading of 24000ppm?!?

I am actually pretty sure that they haven’t even added salt to the pool as all the bags are still here. Am waiting to hear back from them.

In the meantime, has anyone seen such a high reading before? Must be a bug or something right?

Sadly I bet they dumped salt in and turned on the SWCG. Great way to mess up the board components of the Aquarite. Turn off the SWCG. Brush the pool really well and run the pump. Turn the SWCG back on tomorrow after the pump runs for a day.

I read the salt is not added? Then that is odd. But regardless, do not let them turn on the SWCG right after adding salt.

Thanks so much. Yes, I have a camera and did not see them empty any salt into the pool. (I also have 6 bags of salt out there that haven’t been touched).

Just a follow up!

The pool guys said that as my chlorine was 5ppm (I tested it too, it was just under) they removed chlorine until they come back this coming Monday.

I live in 90° extremely sunny weather at the moment, and my pool is uncovered. I feel that in 6 days the chlorine level would drop considerably, or am I worrying too much. I don’t know if they have added CYA - I assume so.

Also, they were unsure why the SWCG was running, as there is indeed no salt in the pool. I hope the few hours it was running has not broken the unit or harmed the cell in any way.

You need to add chlorine every day. Test FC and maintain it at target level for the CYA.
Running the SWCG without salt in the water will not harm it.
