New owner, over my head!

Hello, all! I’m a new owner of a saltwater pool. It’s only about 3 years old, and came with the house I just purchased.

I have zero knowledge for opening/closing/maintaining, so I have a company come assist.

Recently I went for a swim after about 10 days without checking the pool (my bad, but have a cat who needed 24/7 care after emergency surgery) and noticed this algae.

I have very little in the way of pool equipment. My pool guy is coming out tomorrow, but for the future (and likely for this instance as well, as Reddit informed me this will not clear up in one day), what exact equipment and testing materials will I need? Could someone list/link them? I’m in need of simplicity but I’m also willing to learn, if easily spelled out.

Welcome to TFP! :wave; Algae requires a process we call SLAM - SLAM Process. To do that process you must have a proper test kit. That is priority #1. Local free testing is horrible so don't bother. We recommend ether a TF-100, TF-Pro Series, or Taylor K-2006C kit. See the links below for a good kit and we can get you through any chemistry issue.
