Hello! My name is John and I'm a new pool owner since July. I've been swimming actively and, at first, continued service with the existing pool company. However, I've gradually taken over all the maintenance myself until now I want to handle chemicals as well.

I was attracted to these forums based on several queries I had, and the very informed responses I read here. I also use your PoolMath app. I'm very much still learning, but love understanding how things work and have been fascinated by all the details of pool care. Hoping to learn a lot from this site and the rest of you.

Thank you! I've been testing with my K-2006 for a few weeks now, and will terminate the contract with the pool company at the end of this month. Today, based on what I've read here, I'm going to go return the Power Powder Plus I had bought back to Leslie's, and will get some bleach at Wal*Mart or Home Depot.

I do have a little bit of algae starting, and phosphates are around 600ppm. Should I still use phosphate remover after doing a SLAM, or should I just ignore phosphate levels entirely and only manage FC?
