New liner and closing

I have just had my liner replaced and it is also well past the time that I should have closed my pool here in western NY. Pool store recommended a full fill, get salt in and generator up and running and then drain to below skimmer, blow out and close.

Is this needed or can I just plug lines, fill to below the skimmer, add chlorine and closing chemicals and close? I'm refilling the pool now and the water has just reached the shallow end.

This is my first year with a pool, just bought the house late this summer.

Welcome to the forum!

See this - Pool School - Closing an In Ground Pool

Also - I would see no reason to add salt to your pool until you open next year. I assume your SWCG will have a warranty that covers when you start it next year to cover you for any initial issues.

Take care.

Take care.

Definitely planning on getting the water chemistry dialed in before closing using my TF-100 kit. Plan on using a submersible 1,600 gal/hr pump to circulate the water and chemicals prior to putting on safety cover. Just seems like a waste to fill only to drain and blow out.
