PVC sch40 question

I posted this in my build thread but have not got a response yet.

Quick PVC question. Is sch40 280psi all the same. Just went and bought 450 feet of pipe and while unloading noticed it said sch40 280psi PVC-dwv. Can it be used for both drain and pressure as it says sch40 280psi and dwv on the pipe? I just seen sch 40 and grabbed it. Hope I don't have to take it back.

I think it is listing all of the ASTM standards it meets. 1785D is for pressurized systems.

That's a dual rated pipe. ASTM D1785 means that it is pressure rated (as John T noted). ASTM D2665 specifies the DWV rating. "NSF pw" specifies that the pipe is suitable for potable water.

That is an acceptable pipe to use.

Ok thanks. That just threw me for a loop when I seen dwv. Also made sure all fittings was sch40. Thanks for you quick replys.

Kyle-

Google curtain drain(type of french drain for surface water) and take a look and see if that would work.

You might okay with just gutters and diverting the water away from the area. It's hard to tell from the pictures and what future concrete decking you are installing.

Dry well- How deep would you have to dig to hit sand/permeable soil in your area?
Are you on a well or city water?

On a side note any progress on the build?

Yeah I think a type of French drain is what we will have to go with because of the slope towards the house.

As far as hitting sand I don't know. They just dug the pool and it was mostly red clay.

The pool is together, now the bond beam has to be poured. Then I will run the plumbing and electrical. I have hired the pool Krete and liner install out so hopefully I can have everything ready to backfill in 7-10 days.

The bond beam has been poured. They are starting the bottom tomorrow and I will be doing the plumbing and electrical this weekend. Hopefully should be filling with water by next week depending on weather. We have rain chances of over 50% for Friday and Saturday. Still trying to line up the concrete deck. I don't know what it is about contractors but around here you would think none of them need any work as they never return phone calls.

We have a pool! They for here at 4:30 this morning and worked through the day. Got the liner in and is filling with water. I got half the plumbing done after work today. Hopefully will have that and electrical done by Sunday. Hope to have it finished in 7-10 days.

Hope to get pluming at least to the pad done tomorrow. Them electrical hopefully Sunday.

Quick question. How far can u fill it up before I put to much stress on the walls before backfilling?

Also is it ok to run PVC on top of another one? I am putting in deck jets and want them 1-2 foot from the edge and to do that it will have to run atop some PVC.

One more thing. They cut in my returns and skimmer already. Is that gonna cause a problem. Water is probably a foot or so below them right now.

Still looking for a answer on how far I can safely fill the pool up before backfill? Right now it is about a foot in the shallow.

I can give you an amateur guess so take it for what it's worth.........I would stop.

Truth is probably that you can fill it all the way but do you really need to? I can't think of a pressing reason to fill it and I would sure like the extra security of backfill before I went further.

Laying PVC on top of one another (rigid) should be no issue. Mine come into the pad in a single trench and I just stacked them up. I suppose you could stretch a scenario and worry about vibration but schedule 40 pipe is pretty tough stuff and I don't see it as an issue.

With the pipe I just put a layer of sand on top of the pipe and ran one on top. I don't suspect a issue.

I don't really know. Just wanting to make sure it will not hurt it either way. It has only been sitting since Thursday like this so I wouldn't think either would hurt it by now but just wanting to make sure. Thanks for the tip and response.
