New IG vinyl pool build in North AL

Started backfilling on one side today. We are doing it by shovel and wheel borrow just to make sure the dirt gets good and compacted. I am loading it up and wheeling it over there and my wife is spreading it out level and compacting it. I know water may not be advised but I am wetting it down just enough to get it wet and harden up over night. I don't get home until 5 each day so we got in a good 3 hours and got one long wall half way back filled. I still have to pour the pad which I will do tomorrow or Wednesday. Then plumb the pad hopefully Friday. The guy helping me on the electrical had to work this past weekend so we didn't get that done. Hopefully we will get it this weekend and we can get this water circulating before it turns green.

We also ordered out cleaner and decided on the Polaris 9300. From looking at reviews it has mixed reviews but that is pretty much all pool equipment. You either love it or hate it, there is not a whole lot of in between. It should be here Thursday. Can I drop it in there even if I do not have it filled up all the way by then? From reading it has a setting that keeping it off the walls but I didn't know since there is only a foot of water in the shallows if it would affect anything. Hopefully by then we will have it at least back filled half way all the way around and I can finish filling the pool up though.

Quick question about coping. I just noticed today that in spots the coping does not meet completely and there are gaps between them. Not big maybe a eighth inch or so which is covered up with coping clips. It still looks like to me that when concrete is poured it will seep through and into the pool. Is that a problem? Also at the steps there is a gap between the coping and steps and it looks like they did not cut the liner enough. Will this cause any problems or can it still be fixed? I should have looked over it with a fine tooth comb but was in such a hurry to get everything else done I looked past it.

Got the pad done today. My brother and laws friend (electrician) keeps getting caught up out of town but he thinks he will be free this weekend. So hopefully will have a operating pool by Sunday. Concrete guy is about 2 weeks out but I will need that time anyways to grade.

Hard long day today. Got all the electrical, bonding, plumbing up to the pad, and half of another wall back filled today. I hope to get pad completely plumbed tomorrow and get water flowing. Water is starting to get cloudy but still hasn't turned green yet. Hopefully I will be going to buy some bleach by tomorrow night. Also still have to connect the pump to a breaker as lowes didn't have the one I needed. Hoping home depot will have it tomorrow. Took the next week off from work and got a kabota mini tracker from my wife's uncle so backfilling will go a whole lot faster now.

Anyone looking to do a semi or total DIY pool estimate what you think it will cost and add about 10-15% to it. Seems like everything is costing about that much more. Still will be saving 8-10k from what we was quoted by PB's these last few months though.

Got a lot done the last few days. Electrical and plumbing are finished. Electrical inspection tomorrow, wish me luck. Here are a few pics.

Plumbing at the pad didn't exactly turn out like I wanted. I had to put in 2 extra elbows because I didn't make my pipes spaced out far enough to get all the valves in where I wanted. Hopefully it will not affect the flow to to much.

I will break everything down compared to what we was quoted when we get everything done. We do have a lot of rain coming in from the hurricane but not as much as expected being in north Alabama. It is raining now so the electrical inspection is on hold right now. Looks like we may get a break in an hour so I am gonna call and see if he can come out then.

Past electrical and got gotten everything pretty much done up to concrete. Still have to wire the temp and water sensors for SWG and some grading to do but am glad we have a nearly finished pool. For started on BBB to get water chemistry right then I will switch to the SWG.

Nope none yet. Waiting in concrete which keeps getting pushed back because of rain. The guy also does pile driving, installing lake docks and was backed up a few weeks. Should start next week though. Can't wait as all this dirt is hard to keep the pool clean.
