New IG pool build in Fort Worth, TX

Steel was installed today. Now waiting for completion of the initial plumbing stub-out and inspection. Amazed at the speed of the contractor doing this work; 2 guys knocked this out in under 3 hours.

The final plumbing work will happen after gunite. PB said we may have gunite by the end of this week!

Have you measured it? Make sure the benches, shelf, steps are the size you want in the end. NOW is the time to make any adjustment you want made. They can add size with the gunite so no worries about the steel not being as big. BUT you have to be there for the gunite shoot to convey what you want done and where. Something to think about is do you want the edges of everything curved or "sharp"? Me? I think curved to match the overall pool shape.

I did measure before the steel went in and everything matched the design. We don’t actually have measurements for the steps and ledge they were just free formed but I like the size that I’m seeing.

What do you mean about the edges being curved or shaped?

I did an edit to my post. I meant to say curved or "sharp" (instead of shaped) sorry about that. It could also be call "rolled edge" or 90 degree edge aka "sharp". Can you picture what I mean when I use the correct words?

Yes, I think I know what you mean! I hadn't even thought of that but I'm glad you mentioned it. I will ask my PB as I think I'd prefer a rolled edge vs. a sharp 90 degree edge.

Plumbers came back and finished all their work today. The pipes are running inside the pool wall instead of outside the perimeter due to the amount of rock in our soil. Everything is hooked up and under pressure to check for leaks. I'm told the system will be held under pressure until after the decking is completed to ensure there are no leaks. The light housing is installed along with the bubbler for the tanning ledge and the water feature in the raised bond beam.

With any luck we'll have gunite no later than Friday. Now we have to finalize our tile selection.

What did PB say about the low voltage lighting? So easy for them to do it now and its super cheap...sorry inexpensive...the transformer will be the most expensive. Hope they can tie it into the automation.

I'll be doing most of the installation of the low-voltage lighting myself, just wanting the electrician to put in an extra outlet at the equipment location and another outlet behind the raised bond beam section of the pool. This will allow me to run lights along the 3 sides of the backyard fence and possibly some other lights around the perimeter of the pool. I plan to buy at least one 300W (or bigger) transformer so I won't be limited on the amount of lights I can eventually install. I have a few ideas floating around in my head, but I want to wait until the pool build is done before I start in on the lighting project.

Going with earth-tone colors to help tie into the existing patio. The coping will be Oklahoma flagstone and the plaster will be Caribbean blue smooth crystal stone. Just need to make the final choice for the tile.

I like option 1 the best of all. 2 and 3 are tied for last. If you make me pick from 2 and 3 I guess I would pick 3 then 2. 2 is just too "rustic" looking, I really like the color of 1. 3 has a blend of the plaster and coping colors.
