New IG build League City, TX

I wonder if they were checking to make sure the gunite was thick enough on the bottom? I can't wait to hear what they have to say. I would also send him pics of the sand and rocks. It almost looks like some of the gunite washed away. It will be VERY interesting to see what is at the bottom of that water. Make sure you put these pics and the written explanation in a safe place for later.

tldude876 is on to something. They could be for hydrostatic relief, to keep the shell from floating during the coming rain(s)... They're not placed where I would think those would go, though... a curiosity, for sure...

This is what they told me it was for. There are at least four that I could see. I found two more that were under the water. They are mostly uniform and similar in size so that does make it seem that they were purposefully placed there. I did have some slight crumbling on the steps but not too bad. It must’ve been the last thing they shot before it started raining as it was really the only thing covered with plastic.

This stuff really soaks in water like a sponge. Even with the rains last night I came home to a shell that looked dry. I watered it down for like 30mins. By the time I finished, the spot were I started already started to look dry.

Well, at least it’s aunny and cool now. Should be that way for a few says.

I thought some of it looked like it washed away too but after seeing it in better light and I thinks it’s good.

And Kim, you weren’t lying about mudding! It was ok on dig day but now that it rained, my backyard is a giant mud hole! My poor dog wants to go out back to potty but I keep having to drag him to the front yard. He’s probably so confused.

That does look better in that light!

Poor doggy. They just don't understand when you change their routine :( The bad part? When the pool gets done then you will have to change it back to the backyard  LOL

Some people have used those soaker hoses to help water the shell. Some have set up sprinklers.

OK, now they make sense. They're just being careful... which is a good thing.

Unfortunately, there is a chance our dog may not have to readjust. Our lab has an aggressive form of cancer. The vet said he probably doesn’t have very long to live. At this point, I just hope he lives long enough to splash in the pool. He loves water. We just can’t put him down right now since he still acts like a normal dog. I know eventually it will catch up to him but I hope it’s later rather than sooner.

It certainly put my mind at ease. I am constantly learning about pools.

Beautiful lab! I am sorry to hear about cancer. So much love in those dogs!

Thanks! We’ve always had labs and he’s been the best.

Happy to see your shell is in! Not happy to hear that your dog is so unwell [emoji22] We lost our lab x mastiff during our build. She was only 6. Also an aggressive form of cancer. Such a sad time. I hope your lab gets to swim in your pool.

Thanks! Sorry to hear about your loss. Our guy is 12, which is really old for a 100lb lab.

I am so sorry to hear about him having cancer :( We lost one of our best dogs to cancer as well. We kept a calendar for him. We marked good days and off days. We were going to make the trip when the off days were more that the good days. Well he did not let that happen. He "told" me he did not want to go for a walk.....this dog LOVED to go for walks so.....once that happened we knew it was time.

Thanks ctrav, tldude976, and kimkats!!!

When he doesn’t seem like himself anymore I think we will know when it’s time.

PB says plumbing and equipment is up next. I don’t know when that will happen. We seem to have a mixture of sunny and rainy days ahead so there’s no telling when the yard will be dry enough for trenching and plumbing. How deep do they usually dig for plumbing???

Update: The plumbers came by today and set up equipment. Luckily, I got to snap a few pics of the plumbing before they buried everything.

I don’t know much about plumbing but hopefully this was a decent job.

Up next is the electrician and the plumber for the gas line and backwash line. Not sure when they are coming yet.

Tile is is scheduled for next week.

You will love having the pics if you ever need the BUT since you have them you won't need them LOL When will they pressure test the lines?

Kim:kim:

I thought pictures would be a good idea just in case, but I sure hope I never need them!!! Another plumber is suppose to come out to run the gas line and backwash line. Perhaps then they will pressure test it. Otherwise, I’m not sure when they will.
